The artificial intelligence firm Anthropic is launching a new corporate political action committee, "AnthroPAC," a form of employee-funded PAC for election season. The PAC will be funded entirely by employees, with donations capped at $5,000 per person per year under federal law and will be overseen by a bipartisan board of directors. The company has previously had a contentious relationship with the Trump administration, particularly over their perception of safeguards for the emerging technology. However, Anthropic has already donated $20 million to Public First Action, a group established to support efforts to develop AI safeguards.
