The National Hurricane Center has added inland alerts to its forecast cone, replacing the previous version that depicted coastal tropical storm and hurricane alerts. This new version includes more alerts from the United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These changes are expected to further communicate wind risk during tropical events. The seven-day tropical weather outlook will also change from showing systems with a low chance of development as a yellow to indicating a greater chance in seven days.
