The Severn Vale Beaver Project, organised by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Forestry England, is planning to reintroduce beavers to more Forest of Dean locations in the county after reintroducing them in 2018. The public has strong support for the project, with 91% of the surveyed public in favour of reintroducing beavers. The next steps will require approval from Natural England and a feasibility study has been conducted by the trust. The project aims to recreate lost habitats and reduce downstream flooding for at-risk properties.
