Surfer seriously injured in shark attack off California coast

A surfer, 39, was seriously injured in a shark attack off the California coast on March 18. The incident occurred near Big River Beach in Mendocino Headlands State Park. The surfer was pulled to safety by three off-duty lifeguards and transported to a hospital in Fort Bragg for further treatment. As a precaution, nearby beaches were closed for 48 hours and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
