The paths the players and coaches took to reach the Elite Eight are highlighted in the upcoming game between No. 3 seed Illinois and No. 9 seed Iowa, who will play in the game, are both coached by Brad Underwood and Ben McCollum. Both teams started their careers at Division II Northwest Missouri State before moving up to Division I level. Underwood, the ninth-year Illinois coach, expressed appreciation for his team's international representation of countries from around the world, including the United States, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Greece. McCollom, who took over at Iowa last March, brought six players from Drake to Iowa City, including star guard Bennett Stirtz. Iowa's roster is almost entirely from the Midwest, though the Hawkeyes do have 6-foot-10 junior forward Alvaro Folgueiras from Spain. The game will begin at 5:09 p.m. on Saturday (TBS).
