First Lady Melania Trump has publicly criticized late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel for his joke about her being an "expectant widow". The comedian's comments were made during a segment of his show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" which parodied the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Melania called for ABC to take a stand against Kimmel's "hateful and violent" rhetoric. Two days after Kimmel's joke, an attempted assassin opened fire inside the Washington Hilton where the annual dinner was being held. The alleged assassin, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen, is currently in custody and has been charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
