UCLA’s Lauren Betts is Big Ten Player of Year in L.A. sweep of awards

The Big Ten Conference announced its women's basketball awards, with UCLA's Lauren Betts being named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of Year, becoming the first player in conference history to win both awards in the same season. Cori Close was named Coach of Year and graduate forward Angela Dugalic was named Sixth Player Of The Year. Trojans guard Jazzy Davidson was named Freshman of the Championship. UCLA's Kiki Rice and UCLA's Gabriela Jaquez and USC's Kara Dunn were selected for the Second Team, while UCLA's Gianna Kneepkens was an Honorable Mention. The awards also included a 10-player First Team, including Betts, Davidson, Kikiki Rice, Ava Heiden, Oluchi Okananwa, Michigan, Olivia Olson and Syla Swords, Ohio State, and Washington's Sayvia Sellers.
