Egor Dëmin, a Russian rookie, has been shut down for the rest of the season due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Foot specialist, Dr. Andrew Brief, described the condition as "painful and sometimes debilitating" for athletes like basketball players and believes it won't become chronic. The Nets, who have been without a lottery pick for 15 years, invested the No. 8 overall pick of the 2025 draft in Dëmine. Despite this, the team is not currently playing for a playoff spot, but is playing for the lottery. DëMin, who averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds, was the first Nets rookie since 2019 to make the Rising Stars roster at All-Star weekend.
