A local synagogue in North Raleigh held a Holocaust Remembrance event, with North Carolina's first Jewish governor, Governor Josh Stein, among speakers. The event, known as Yom HaShoah, commemorates the lives of 6 million Jewish people killed during World War II. Stein addressed the rise in antisemitism and highlighted the passing of the Gazella Abramson Holocaust Education Act, which requires Holocaust education in all North Carolina public middle and high schools. Other events included a candlelit ceremony, Holocaust displays and artwork.
