Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly in discussions about raising $100 billion for a new effort to purchase manufacturing companies and use artificial intelligence (AI) technology for automation. The billionaire has been meeting with some of the world's largest asset managers to secure funding for the initiative. The new fund, described as a "manufacturing transformation vehicle," aims to obtain companies across key industrial sectors including semiconductor production, defense, and aerospace. It would surpass many of the largest buyout funds in size and compete with SoftBank’s Vision Fund. Additionally, Project Prometheus, which Bezos co-founded with Vikram Bajaj, has separately been discussing raising up to $6 billion in funding.
