San Diego police have identified 51-year-old son, Galen Sherwood, as the suspected shooter who allegedly fatally shot his 83-year old mother and then himself in a murder-suicide at their North Park home on March 23. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots and finding a man with a gunshot wound to his head on the porch of the house. Police found Sherwood on the premises and performed life-saving measures before he could be taken to a hospital. The firearm was recovered at the scene and will be tested for its effectiveness.
