Víctor Rodríguez resigns as Pemex director after a month of troubles

President Claudia Sheinbaum has appointed Juan Carlos Carpio as the new director of Mexico's state-owned oil company, after Víctor Rodríguez resigned following a month of controversy surrounding a massive oil spill that affected almost the entire southern half of the Gulf of Mexico. The company's credit rating was reaffirmed by S&P, but acknowledged that its capital structure is unsustainable due to its low liquidity and high leverage. Carpios' appointment must be approved by the Pemex Board of Directors.
