President Donald Trump has warned of extensive military strikes on Iran if the country does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening. The president stated that the country could be taken out in one night if the administration deems it necessary. This could happen within a period of four hours. The threat to hit civilian infrastructure and cut off power has raised concerns about possible war crimes. Over 100 international law experts signed a letter last week warning that the US strikes could potentially fall under war crimes and could lead to serious concerns. Tehran rejected a 45-day ceasefire proposal, stating it wants a permanent end to the war and guarantees it won't be attacked again. Despite extending the deadline multiple times, President Trump has insisted that Iran must reopen the strait or power plants and bridges will be wiped out.
