Philly hopes $1.8M makeover jumpstarts Market East revival

The city of Philadelphia is investing $1.8 million in a $2.5 million renovation of Market East, aimed at revitalizing the business district. The improvements will include eight pop-ups filling properties owned by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. The project will be funded through a $3.5-a-year grant. The city hopes these improvements will stimulate the revitalization of the area, which has seen stalled abandoned development projects and safety concerns.
