Investigation Launched Into Inmate’s Death At CT Prison

An inmate at the New Haven Correctional Center has died after being found unresponsive in his cell. The Department of Correction, along with Connecticut State Police and the Office of the Inspector General, are investigating the death. The inmate, identified as 33-year-old Gamboy Guaranda, had been on a $250,000 bond since his arrest in August 2025 and charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child were pending. The cause and manner of death will be determined by an autopsy.
