Alan Jones’s Lawyer Says Sex Abuse Allegations Stem From ‘Rivalry, Treachery’
Published on August 3, 2026.
Former talkback host Alan Jones is accused of 22 counts of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent. His lawyer, Gabrielle Bashir, stated that the case is based on "rivalry, treachery, double dealing, money, hatred, desperation, opportunism". Jones is also accused of indecently assaulting two 17-year-olds. Six complainants allege that Jones indecently assaulted or sexually touched them between 2003 and 2020 at various locations across Sydney and the NSW (New South Wales) Southern Highlands. Crown prosecutor Georgina Wright stated that Jones had met one of the complainants when he was an up-and-coming athlete and paid him $400 to focus on his future. However, Bashir questioned the man's claims, accusing him of rewriting his history with the broadcaster.
