Multi-state 'gold bar scam' has D-FW roots, authorities say

Three North Texas jewelry stores are involved in a multi-state 'gold bar scam' that authorities say duped older individuals into giving up their savings. The Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service have been involved in the investigation, which began in North Texas and now involves several law enforcement agencies. The suspects are believed to have impersonated law enforcement officials to pressure victims to withdraw their savings, buy gold, and send it to a courier.
