Folsom, a Sacramento suburb that shares its name with a notorious prison, California has seen a 45% increase in population since 2004, reaching 92,000 residents. The city has annexed 3,500 new acres in 2004 and expanded residential construction, resulting in a population boom of around 90,000. The area around Folsom Lake, a 10,000-acre reservoir with 75 miles of shoreline, and surrounding lakes and trails offer plenty of outdoor recreation. Activities include exploring the Johnny Cash Trail, a bike and pedestrian path connecting to the Fortsom Prison Museum, and a hiking and dog-friendly state park. The Fololom History Museum offers a temporary exhibition on the town's history and exhibits temporary exhibitions.
