A ground stop was issued at Newark Airport after the air traffic control tower was evacuated due to smoke. This comes just hours after LaGuardia Airport was closed due to a fatal plane crash. Air traffic controllers are being relocated to a backup facility at the airport. The ground stop is expected to continue until at least 8:30 a.m., an hour after it started. This is not the first time the airport has been closed.
