ICE Agents Arrive At US Airports Amidst TSA Shortage As Democrats Keep DHS Shutdown Going

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been deployed to several airports amid a nationwide airport crisis due to the partial government shutdown. The agents are assisting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers who have been left without pay and suspended their nonessential privileges and courtesies. President Donald Trump had threatened to deploy ICE agents to airports if Democrats failed to agree on a funding bill. Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, the only Democrat to oppose a government shutdown, has publicly opposed the shutdown. Elon Musk has offered to pay the salaries of TSA officers, although the legality of this arrangement remains unclear.
