The Federalist Scored A Huge Win For Free Speech

The Federalist and The Daily Wire have successfully secured a deal with the State Department to prevent future censorship activities under the Global Engagement Center (GEC), which was notorious for its targeting of domestic media outlets. The New Civil Liberties Alliance alleged violations of the plaintiffs' First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The State Department was also prohibited from funding, promoting, or assisting in the testing or development of tools or technologies that aim to censor or censor constitutionally protected speech. The Consent Decree also provides assurances that a future administration will not reverse course and create a new center to censor Americans’ speech. Following the election of President Trump and the confirmation of Marco Rubio as secretary of state, the new administration took steps to halt the violation of the First Amendment.
