North Carolina girl beats rare leukemia after more than two years of treatment

North Carolina girl, Ruthie Dickinson, was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia, a relatively rare form of leukemia after feeling fatigued and bloated in December 2022. She underwent intense chemotherapy multiple times a week for the first eight months before being scaled back to once a month. Dr. Felipe Bautista, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, described Ruthie as a "very special patient." The diagnosis brought fears from Travis and Carrie Dickinson, who had previously had a previous cancer experience. Despite the challenges of the disease, Ruth's most recent scans show she is cancer free.
