Families take shelter in schools as Lebanon’s government calls Hezbollah’s strike on Israel illegal

Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that at least 31 people were killed and 149 wounded in overnight strikes in Beirut suburbs and southern Lebanon. The Lebanese government called Hezbollah's actions illegal and demanded it hand over its weapons. The Israeli military warned residents of around 50 communities across southern Lebanon to prepare for a potential ground invasion. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strikes, claiming they were in response to Israel's attacks on Iran and the United States. The country's Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, banned Hezbollah's military activities and called on security agencies to prevent the firing of missiles or drones from Lebanon and detain those behind the launch. This is the harshest stance the Lebanese government has taken yet towards Hezbollah.
