‘The sacred place where life begins’: documentary seeks to preserve Arctic refuge

National Geographic photographer Florian Schulz and a team of filmmakers spent six years documenting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for an IMAX documentary. The documentary, titled "The Arctic: Our Last Great Wilderness," aims to preserve the pristine nature of the refuge and its inhabitants. Kristen Moreland, executive director of the Gwich’in Steering Committee, grew up in the area and believes upcoming federal lease sales threaten the area. The film was screened at the Anchorage Museum to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the refuge.
