Russia has increasingly targeted small Ukrainian power substations, with increased drone capacity allowing it to disrupt Ukraine's grid more than ever, according to data from the Centre for Information Resilience. The data, shared exclusively with Reuters by the research group, shows that Russia's armed forces have expanded its domestic drone production to diversify the facilities they target and increase the rate of fire. The attacks, often involving hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles, have disrupted Ukraine's energy sector and disrupted power and heat for civilians, businesses, and the military. Russia denies targeting civilians and claims these attacks are justified as they disrupt Ukraine’s military capability. The energy sector has been severely damaged by Russia s bombardment, costing $25  bn.
