Marter takes wide lead over opponent in GOP primary for 14th Congressional seat

Oswego resident Jim Marter has a wide lead over his opponent, Gary Vician, in the GOP primary for the Illinois 14th Congressional seat. As of 9 p.m., Marter had 74.3% of the vote, compared to Vician's 25.7%. The seat has been held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood since 2019. Marter, a former Oswego Public Library board member, said he would focus on fighting waste, fraud and abuse if elected to Congress.
