Scout AI, founded by Coby Adcock and Collin Otis, has raised $100 million in a Series A round led by Align Ventures and Draper Associates to train its AI models for war. The company, which operates four-seater all-terrain vehicles at a US military base in central California, aims to train AI models to enter conflict zones. It is using an AI model called "Fury" to operate and command military assets, initially for logistical support but soon for autonomous weapons. The firm has secured military technology development contracts totalling $11 million from organizations like DARPA, the Army Applications Laboratory, and other Department of Defense customers. Scout is using Vision Language Action models, or VLAs, which are based on LLMs and used to control robots. The technology also seeded robotics start-ups like Physical Intelligence and Figure.
