The election for Hungary's 199-seat parliament is being closely watched by the EU, Russia, and US. An Orban defeat could result in the unblocking of a 90-billion-euro ($105 billion) European Union loan for Ukraine, which would also deprive Russia of its closest ally in the EU. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has portrayed the election as a choice between "war and peace", while Tisza leader Magyar has proposed changes to address a popularity rating of just 8% among under-30s. However, analysts have warned that the outcome of the vote remains uncertain due to undecided voters and a high proportion of ethnic Hungarians in neighbouring countries supporting the ruling party.
