Action star Jet Li has recalled a near-death moment during a 2004 vacation with his family in the Maldives that put his life in perspective. The incident occurred during the trip with his wife, Nina Li Chi, and their two daughters, Jane and Jada, who were four and two at the time. Li narrowly escaped a tsunami that hit the beach and washed his younger daughter and their babysitter over twenty feet away. The experience led him to establish the One Foundation, which helps people affected by natural disasters. During filming of the 2010 movie, Ocean Heaven, which required Li to hold his breath underwater for several minutes, this trauma brought back the trauma of surviving the tsunami.
