Viking statue plan for ancient Tynwald Hill site can go ahead

An appeal against the placement of a statue of an 11th Century Viking warlord next to the site of the Manx parliament has been dismissed. The statue was initially approved in July by the island's planning committee, raising concerns about archaeological evaluations. The artist's design and installation were designed by Darren Jackson and Stephanie Quayle-Jackson. The project must meet several conditions including an archaeological Written Scheme of Investigation and a detailed plan for interpretation boards.
