The city of Portland is considering introducing new rules for self-proclaimed robotaxis, which are currently permitted in about half of the country but require a human operator to be behind the wheel in most cases. The city has extended its comment period to April 10, allowing public comment on the proposed changes. The biggest obstacle is understanding local politics, according to AV policy expert, and the implementation of the laws.
