However, Wayne Winegarden, a medical economist at the right-leaning Pacific Research Institute think tank, criticised the website for reflecting direct-to-consumer cash prices, not what most Americans pay. The White House defended the administration's efforts, stating that some medicines are now "300% to 600%" cheaper. The UK's National Health Service updates its payouts monthly by the cost-control agreements and other assessments. The cost of these deals is based on the cost of each prescription medicine purchased by the private or government-sponsored insurance.
