Foo Fighters Drummer Ilan Rubin Says His Move from Nine Inch Nails 'Was Certainly Not a Swap'

Foo Fighters drummer Ilan Rubin has clarified that his departure from Nine Inch Nails (NIN) was not a "swap" in the way most people have been referred to. Rubin had previously drummed for NIN and dismissed Foos drummer Josh Freese who rejoined NIN more than a decade earlier. He joined NIN after Freese left in 2008 and was with the band until last summer. Rubin stated that he met with Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters' management team about the switch and that he was aware of NIN's plans for the future. The news of the switch was initially billed as a "drummer swap," but Rubin insisted that it was a coincidence.
