French AI startup, Mistral, has launched Mistral Forge, a platform that allows enterprises to build custom AI models trained on their own data. The platform was announced at Nvidia GTC, the company's annual technology conference, which is focused on AI and agentic models for enterprise. This move comes as Mistral aims to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in terms of consumer adoption. The company is also focusing on giving companies more control over their data and AI systems. Forge customers can build their custom models using Mistral’s library of open-weight AI models, which includes small models such as the Mistral Small 4. Early adopters include Ericsson, the European Space Agency, Italian consulting company Reply, and Singapore’�s DSO and HTX.
