Rescuers are attempting to free a humpback whale stranded on Germany's Baltic Sea coast using a large suction dredger to remove sand. The whale has been stuck in shallow waters since Monday and is expected to be approached slowly by rescuers to get it accustomed to the sounds. The operation involves digging a trench 50 metres long, six metres wide and 1.20 metres deep in front of the whale's head. However, wind and currents may pose challenges during the rescue operation.
