The San Diego County Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations of embezzlement and money laundering against Bishop Emmanuel Shaleta of St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral. The department's Homicide Unit was involved in the investigation due to "unusual circumstances". Police also found illegal substances and a large amount of cash. The man was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment.
