The city's medical examiner has ruled the deaths of four people, including a 3-year-old girl, in an illegally subdivided Queens apartment fire. The fire, which broke out on March 16, is being investigated as a possible arson. The remaining two victims are identified as 50-years-old Chengri Cui and Sihan Yang. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An inspection of the address in 2020 revealed that the owner had improperly converted the two-family building into a seven-family structure.
