The University of Minnesota has launched a new scholarship in Alex Pretti's name to honor the late VA nurse who was fatally shot by federal immigration agents during Operation Metro Surge. The fund is powered by individual donations and is still accepting contributions at tinyurl.com/PrettiScholarship. The higher the sum raised, the more money can be donated to deserving students each year from this endowed fund. Pretti was a 37-year-old intensive care nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center and was a life dedicated to veterans' care. Despite efforts by federal officials to bury the incident and falsely label Pretti’s death as domestic terrorism, there have been no charges connected to Pretti and no discipline for the agents involved. The scholarship is a powerful way to channel outrage over this tragedy and shows that the public is paying attention to the tragedy.
