Fugitive sex offender returned to Nevada after arrest in California

Preston Jakes, a fugitive sex offender who was wanted in Nevada for a parole violation, has been arrested in California after four years on the run. Jakes was convicted of attempted sexual assault in 2013 after engaging in illegal sexual contact with a minor victim. He was sentenced to 96 to 240 months in prison and was released on parole in 2022. A joint investigation led to his arrest and he is now being extradited back to Nevada.
