A lone juror in the trial of Guy Rivera, accused of murdering NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, caused a significant disruption as he disagreed with the verdict. The eight men and four women deciding Rivera's fate had decided to acquit on murder but convict on aggravated manslaughter. The verdict came after the foreman read a verdict of not guilty for first-degree murder, then guilty for aggravated manslaughter, attempted murder, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Prosecutors claim Rivera deliberately shot Diller in the stomach during a violent attempt to escape a car stop.
