US rocket scientist Monica Reza disappeared on a hike in 2025, five months before retired Air Force Gen. William McCasland. Reza, who used the last name Jacinto in her professional career, was a material scientist at Aerojet Rocketdyne, which was funded by NASA and the Air Force Research Laboratory. McCasand was the leader of the group that funded research into advanced materials for reusable space vehicles and weapons. Despite extensive searches, Reza has not been found and is still considered a missing person.
