The Santa Monica Airport, a more than century-old California airport, will close its doors for good in 2028. This will mark the beginning of a major 227-acre revitalization in the community. The City of Santa Monica has received a $499,149 grant from the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District to fund the planning and design process for the first 20 acres of the project. The city has been working to develop plans to use the space to improve community livelihoods.
