Goodsprings Elementary School in Clark County, Nevada, is closing its doors after 113 years of education. The school board unanimously voted to close the rural school at the end of the current school year. Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, students will be relocated to Sandy Valley, about 12 miles away. The building, built in 1913, is one of Nevada's oldest continuously used schools and listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. Bobbie Poole of the Goodsprings Historical Society expressed concern that closing a school does not necessarily mean losing it to the elements. The district has been in discussions with the Las Vegas Library District to repurpose the building for community use.
