A new scam is targeting Louisiana residents with fake traffic violation texts claiming they have an outstanding traffic violation and must pay the City of New Orleans Municipal Court’s Traffic Division to clear it up. Carmen Million from the Better Business Bureau South Central Louisiana has warned that fear and urgency are key motivators behind this scam. The Better Business Agency recommends doing research before clicking on a link or scanning a QR code, and if targeted, contact local law enforcement or the better business bureau.
