Trump Is Right to Demand More Information from Colleges and Universities

On March 11, the California Attorney General, along with 16 additional Democrat states, filed a complaint against President Trump's requirement for state universities to collect and make public data on student admissions for race, GPA, and SAT scores. The requirement is part of the President's effort to implement the Supreme Court's 2023 Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) opinion, which found racial preferences in university admissions unlawful. The complaint criticizes the "scope, breadth, and rushed process of implementing" the data collection requirement as burdensome and harmful to state schools. However, the National Association of Scholars (NAS) has called for even more data and data from institutions of higher education given their poor record.
