A study by researchers at Tufts University suggests that hundreds of thousands of Boston-area workers could lose their jobs within the next five years due to artificial intelligence (AI). The study, titled "Will Wired Belts Become the New Rust Belts?" looked at the impact of AI on jobs, incomes, and economies across the United States. According to the study, over 207,000 local workers and 260,000 statewide workers could potentially lose at least $20 billion in annual income losses. The study also suggested that jobs in coding, writing, and data analysis will be the first occupations to be replaced by AI.
