The White House has used memeified videos to promote its support for the Iran war, using them to create a positive narrative about the conflict. The videos, which compare deadly conflict with violent video games and movies, have been used in an effort to hype up the White House's efforts and draw attention to its military strikes in Iran. The White House’s communications director, Steven Cheung, used the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video to promote the military bombing of an Iranian vehicle and a video titled “STRIKE.” featuring bowling and bombings. Critics have criticized these videos for comparing actual warfare to violence in fictional universes or sports, which they argue show a lack of seriousness to the war. So far, around a dozen such videos have been posted on social media platforms. The move is part of a wider effort by the administration to raise awareness about the war, which has resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries in Iran and across the Middle East.
