The National Weather Service has predicted that a summer-like weekend could bring record highs for Portland, with temperatures expected to reach up to 80 degrees and potentially exceed the 80s. An upper trough moving along the coast will keep temps above normal as southerly flow continues, but it will also bring in high clouds to keep the heat down. Despite a slight decrease in temperatures, there is a 30-60% chance of reaching 80 degrees in Portland and north and east of Portland, and there is also a potential for a significant increase in daytime heat records across the Portland/Vancouver area. If Portland hits 92 degrees, it would be the earliest day of the year to do so, and other May 3 records are also in danger.
