Governor Jeff Landry has signed an executive order to create a new office that focuses on improving rural healthcare in Louisiana. The Office of Rural Health Transformation and Sustainability will be within the Louisiana Department of Health and aim to achieve better maternal and infant health outcomes, a lower burden for chronic disease, and earlier detection and treatment for serious conditions like cancer. The governor's executive order also established a Rural Health Transformative Council to ensure these goals are met. Over $208 million in federal funding has been secured for the new office.
