The Texas Education Freedom Accounts program has begun its first round of notification to thousands of Texas families. Over 42,600 students will receive award notices under the program, which prioritizes students with qualifying disabilities and households earning at or below 500 percent of the federal poverty level. The first tier includes families with a child with a disability, households earning between 200% and 500% of the poverty level, and families with siblings earning between $165,000 and $600,000 respectively. The notification will be distributed in batches from April 22 to 24. The next phase will include a lottery to determine which applicants will receive funding for the 2026–27 school year.
